The Palladian inset bath is an oval, double-ended tub. Its most notable distinguishing feature is its decorative, carefully detailed double rim. This level and precision of rim detail is only possible thanks to the use of Cabuchon’s own FICORE® composite material, and it lends itself very well to coach striping and colour differentiation as illustrated in the accompanying photographs.
Palladian Built-in Oval Bath
Description
The Palladian Two-Person Oval Bath
The Palladian is a double-ended oval bath that’s ideal for shared bathing. It has simple, smooth lines and comfortably reclining ends that make for a very relaxing bathing experience.
Given that the key feature of the Palladian is its detailed rim, it is invariably used inset, with the rim visible above the deck. It is possible to undermount it, although this would conceal its distinguishing characteristic.
The Palladian features a double radius detail on the outside of the rim and a single on the inside.
Placement:
To facilitate its use as a two-person oval bath, the Palladian is normally manufactured with its waste located centrally and close to the inner bowl wall. This helps to ensure that it does not interfere with bather comfort. Likewise, it is best installed with the taps and any controls set into one of the straight side rims or, alternatively, outside the bath – on the surrounding deck or on a back wall, if available. This allows both users to recline comfortably without spouts or other items getting in the way.
Access and fitting:
The Palladian can be turned on its side and will pass easily through most doors. Its height of just 445mm (17½″) is considerably less than the width of a typical doorway, which is around 750mm / 29½″.
Taps and fittings can be mounted on the bath rim, on the surrounding deck or vertically on an adjacent wall. To ensure that both ends of the bath remain comfortable for the user, spouts, taps and fillers should not be installed close to the bath ends.
Cabuchon normally supplies the Palladian with pre-drilled holes for the waste and overflow. It does not normally pre-cut holes for taps and other fittings. This should be done by the installer, after the client has had a chance to see the bath in situ. Seeing the bath in its finished setting is the best way to decide exactly where the controls ought to be placed. Having done so, the customer should then direct the installer accordingly.
The Palladian oval bath stands on four screw-threaded feet. These allow a height adjustment of up to 50mm (2″), from a minimum of 90mm (3½″) to a maximum of 140mm (5½″). They are factory-fitted and set to spread the bath’s weight evenly. During installation on-site, great care must be taken if the feet are subsequently adjusted to accommodate a sloping or uneven floor. For security, stability and durability, it is essential that the whole of the bath’s weight rests squarely and evenly on the feet. No weight at all should rest on the rim or body of the bath, nor (where present) on any side panel.
